About You

You'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Your Experience & Skills

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (credentialed strongly preferred or equivalent experience)
  • Specialty or advanced clinical experience; Internal Medicine strongly preferred
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead technician experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and compassionate in high-pressure situations
  • Familiarity with Ezyvet & Smartflow systems preferred
  • Experience with endoscopic procedures and advanced imaging modalities, including CT and ultrasound
  • Schedule flexibility, including flexibility to assist or work in other departments in the hospital if needed

About The Hospital

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists San Antonio has recently expanded to a beautiful, modern facility designed to provide exceptional veterinary specialty medicine alongside renowned emergency care. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes advanced diagnostic tools such as CT, MRI, ultrasound, and endoscopy, as well as a linear accelerator and a pulmonetic ventilator for critical care. We also offer a dedicated full pharmacy and an in-house blood bank to ensure comprehensive care for our patients. At Thrive, we foster a friendly, fun, and collaborative work environment, making it a great place for both our team and the pets we serve.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Direct and coordinate the day-to-day schedule, keeping technicians and veterinarians focused, organized, and on task while adapting to patient & client needs
  • Lead and support the Internal Medicine technician team through training, mentorship, and example
  • Perform advanced Internal Medicine nursing care, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and procedures
  • Manage patient assessments, triage, treatments, hospitalization, and follow-up
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and communication logs
  • Deliver and review estimates, discharges, and treatment plans with clients
  • Coordinate with doctors, CSRs, and hospital teams to ensure smooth daily workflow
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergency and critical-care situations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and hospital protocols
