Hospital Manager – Allegheny Veterinary Associates | Pittsburgh, PA

Are you ready to lead a team that brings big heart and keeps it real?

Allegheny Veterinary Associates is a busy 3-doctor small animal practice in Pittsburgh's North Hills looking for a Hospital Manager who can own the day-to-day operations of our clinic while keeping a grounded, steady hand on a team that values authenticity, humor, and direct communication over formalities and corporate culture. This is a tight-knit practice, not a rigid corporate setting — the kind of place where the DVMs are as likely to pitch in as anyone else on the team, and nobody's too important to help out. There's no rigid hierarchy here, just a team that genuinely supports each other.

What makes this role worth your time:

We're one of the highest-rated veterinary practices in Pittsburgh, with a loyal client base and a team that actually knows what it's doing — an experienced DVM team seeing cases from wellness to orthopedics, and staff who've built real roots here. The schedule is Monday through Friday. The people who work here are experienced, skilled, and refreshingly straightforward.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Running the operational engine of the hospital — scheduling, workflows, compliance (OSHA, DEA, VMB), inventory, and facilities
  • Owning the financials: budgets, payroll, performance metrics, and identifying opportunities to grow
  • Leading and supporting department leads and staff — hiring, developing, and retaining a team that genuinely likes working together
  • Working directly with our Medical Director on long-term strategy, service development, and business goals
  • Being the go-to for client concerns, community relationships, and the overall client experience
  • Collaborating with the team on marketing and retention — you'll shape how we show up in our community

Who you are:

You've led teams before, probably in healthcare or another fast-paced service environment, and you know that managing people means meeting them where they are. You don't need everything to be polished to feel comfortable — you lead with confidence in a little chaos, and you can have a direct conversation without it becoming a thing. You're not easily rattled, you don't need a lot of hand-holding, and you find genuine satisfaction in making a good team run better.

Veterinary experience is a plus but not required. 3 or more years of people leadership experience is required.

Schedule, benefits and compensation**: This is a full-time, salaried position with schedule flexibility required based on business needs.

  • Compensation: $65,000 - 75,000 annual base salary*
  • Quarterly bonus opportunities: Based on hospital performance
  • Hiring bonus package: Up to $2000 based on experience and credentials
  • CE allowance: up to $1,000 based on credentials
  • Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k options
  • Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law
  • Personal pet discount
