Airport Veterinary Clinic is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our hardworking, down-to-earth team in Terre Haute, IN! This is an exciting opportunity to put your skills to use in a mixed animal practice that serves both small and large animals — where no two days are ever the same and your work genuinely makes a difference.

Because we are a true mixed animal practice, candidates should also be comfortable working with a variety of species beyond dogs and cats. For example, recently, Dr. Rudisell performed an incredible cesarean section on a snake — just one example of the unique and rewarding cases our team has the opportunity to be part of.

In this role, you will:

  • Support surgical procedures through patient prep, and anesthesia induction, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Support exam room workflow by gathering patient histories, restraining animals, and preparing for appointments
  • Perform blood draws and laboratory sample collection to aid in diagnostics
  • Communicate with clients during check-in, discharge, and follow-ups, providing compassionate education and care
  • Anticipate the needs of your teammates to ensure an efficient, supportive, and positive workday

This position is ideal for Veterinary Assistants who enjoy a balance of surgical support and outpatient care, with mornings focused on surgery and afternoons assisting with exam room responsibilities alongside the medical team.

Schedule: This is a Full-Time position, offering flexible scheduling options including either 5/8s or 4/10s, with weekday shifts and a rotating Saturday schedule every third weekend.

Full-time benefits and compensation**:

  • Compensation: $15 - $19 per hour, for each hour worked*
  • Bonus package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current VA experience
  • Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k options
  • Uniform Allowance
  • Personal pet discounts

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in the following skills (required):
    • Client communication and education
    • Patient restraint and handling
    • Radiology and lab sample collection
    • Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
    • Blood draws IV catheter placement
    • Inpatient and outpatient workflow
