Fairgrounds Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone with a strong background in patient care and handling who enjoys working closely with clients and their pets. In this role, you will support our doctors and technicians by assisting with patient restraint, setting up for procedures, and keeping the treatment area clean and organized throughout the day.

You will help take radiographs, assist in surgery, draw blood, administer injections, process laboratory samples, and care for hospitalized patients. The ideal candidate is compassionate, attentive to detail, and comfortable in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where teamwork and communication are essential.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday through Saturday.

Full-time benefits and compensation :
  • Compensation: $18.50-20.00 per hour, for each hour worked
  • Bonus package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current VA experience

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
  • 2+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Venipuncture and administering SQ injections
    • Surgical assistance
    • Radiology positioning and technique
    • Laboratory processing
    • Experience with Cornerstone is a plus!

We have an in-house lab, digital full body x-ray, dental radiography, ultrasound, intra-oral camera, laser therapy and a paperless record system through Cornerstone. Additionally, we utilize high-grade anesthetic monitoring equipment, including doppler, capnography, ECG, and pulse oximetry.
