Veterinary Assistant

Ithaca Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients throughout the day-to-day flow of hospital care.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

• Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Supporting veterinary technicians and doctors throughout the day to ensure smooth, efficient patient care
• Preparing and cleaning exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces between appointments
• Assisting with general cleaning and maintenance of the facility to uphold a safe, sanitary environment
• Anticipating team needs and stepping in wherever support is needed throughout the day

Schedule and compensation:

• Compensation: $14.00–$16.00 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a full-time or part-time position, with a 5 x 8 flexible schedule, Monday–Friday. No weekends and no on-call requirements.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

• 1+ years of veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel attendant, or related experience required
  • Training considered for the right candidate
• Required Skills:
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
  • Safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
