Job Description:

The FARMS Service within the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is recruiting for a Veterinary Assistant. The person in this position must be able to handle and restrain large animals, operate an autoclave and centrifuge machine, drive trucks, vans, and trailers to transport animals to and from farms. This position will provide assistance on the farm and in the hospital (i.e., patient care, record keeping, sample collection, etc). Maintain clinic ready room, vehicles, equipment and inventory. Manage sample handling and transport and mailing to the appropriate laboratory. Collect and disburse sample results to clinicians. Ordering of equipment and supplies will be coordinated with the FARMS Veterinary Service Representative and/or the Large Animal Hospital Client Services Supervisor when appropriate.

They must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate critical thinking, professionalism and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital.
This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. This position requires a post offer health assessment.

Expected Salary:

$16 - $17.50 per Hour

  
Preferred:

I. Ability to handle and restrain large animals.
2. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, employees, students
and clients.
3. Ability to drive with and back up a stock trailer
4. A high school diploma and two years of appropriate experience.
