Practice Snapshot

• Full-service companion animal practice

• Average patient volume: approximately 13 appointments per veterinarian per day

• Advanced diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, digital radiography, dental radiography, and comprehensive in-house laboratory capabilities

The Opportunity

As Medical Director, you will serve as the clinical leader of the hospital, establishing and maintaining the highest standards of medical quality, patient care, client experience, and team collaboration.
The successful candidate will balance clinical responsibilities with leadership duties, spending the majority of their time practicing medicine while mentoring veterinarians, guiding clinical standards, and partnering with hospital leadership to drive operational and medical excellence.
This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys leading by example, developing colleagues, and building a positive, high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership

• Establish and uphold medical quality standards throughout the hospital
• Lead by example through the delivery of exceptional patient care
• Promote evidence-based medicine and continuous clinical improvement
• Review cases and medical records to ensure consistency and quality of care
• Support implementation and refinement of medical protocols

Team Development

• Mentor and coach associate veterinarians
• Support professional growth and clinical development of veterinary team members
• Conduct performance discussions and provide constructive feedback
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
• Lead regular doctor meetings and clinical discussions

Hospital Partnership

• Work closely with hospital management to align medical and operational priorities
• Support efficient scheduling and workflow optimisation
• Assist with inventory oversight and equipment management
• Participate in hospital-wide planning and team meetings
• Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of veterinary talent

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $180,000-$200,000
