    We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

    Job Summary:

    Provide service as a degree plan specialist and resource for veteran students to help guide them in navigating benefits use and successful college planning. The position will work with CTE students and with the Credit for Heroes Program.

    *** This position is grant funded. Continuation of the position is subject on grant funding.***

    Required Qualifications:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide official evaluation of student transcripts based upon District policy, SACs requirements, and AACRAO principles.
    • Collaborate with “College Credit for Heroes” to fast-track students.
    • Assist with graduation check out and commencement ceremonies.
    • Work closely with college staff, faculty and administration to resolve issues related to enrollment process for veterans.
    • Function as initial and primary contact, serving as liaison between student and various campus departments to consolidate enrollment processes for veterans.
    • Understand district processes and procedures and how they affect veteran’s utilization of VA benefits.
    • Develop relationships with relevant departments throughout the college to help promote and implement student retention and success efforts.
    • Develop processes to educate students about benefits and college procedures as well as internal and external resources that support military.
    • Coordinate Priority Advising/Registration for Veterans.
    • Develop and implement a tracking system to record data for evaluation and assessment of services and for the number and type of contacts made. Generate monthly reports needed to demonstrate growth and needs for expansion.
    • Safeguard confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

     
    Supplemental Functions

    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.

     
    Requirements
    Associate degree from an accredited institution.
    Two (2) years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with military personnel required.

    Compensation is determined based on experience.
