Position Summary
The Vehicle Supply Technician (VST) is responsible for ensuring all emergency response vehicles are fully stocked, clean, safe, and operationally ready for deployment. This role supports field crews by maintaining equipment readiness, accurate inventory control, and efficient unit turnover to ensure uninterrupted patient care operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, stock, and deploy units for daily field operations
- Assign vehicles and issue required equipment, including controlled substances in accordance with policy
- Ensure units meet readiness standards prior to shift start
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle condition and equipment usage
- Complete all required documentation (e.g., equipment receipts, discrepancy logs)
- Restock, clean, and rotate exchange equipment from hospitals
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure compliance with state and local requirements
- Communicate effectively with field personnel to resolve equipment or readiness issues
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including biohazard handling
- Adhere to all applicable regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, controlled substances, etc.)
- Follow company policies, SOPs, and audit requirements
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Participate in required meetings, training, and continuing education
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Driver’s License
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft products and inventory systems)
- Ability to work flexible shifts (including nights/weekends if applicable)
- Previous EMS, logistics, or supply experience (preferred, not required)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and manual dexterity for equipment handling
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions
Working Environment
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and mechanical equipment. The role may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of appropriate PPE.
