About the role

This is a field-forward, hands-on mechanic role. You will be deployed to job sites and roadsides, not just the shop, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles in real-world conditions. If you are the kind of tech who thrives working outdoors, adapts fast, and can troubleshoot under pressure, this role was built for you.

Under general supervision of the Branch Manager, you will maintain and repair gasoline and diesel-powered light and heavy-duty vehicles, construction machinery, and trailers in the garage and out in the field.

What you'll do

  • Perform major and minor repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, fuel, ignition, cooling, and emission control systems on class 8 trucks, service vehicles, and construction equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, hydrostatic, and electro-hydraulic systems including disassembly of pumps and motors
  • Respond to and complete roadside or jobsite repairs as needed, in all weather and terrain conditions
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety compliance repairs
  • Maintain and install electrical components: lights, warning systems, starting and charging systems
  • Manage parts inventory and complete time, materials, and repair records
  • Provide technical guidance to Level I mechanics, customers, and field service reps

Requirements

  • Journey-level mechanical experience with diesel and gas engines
  • Proven electrical and hydraulic diagnostic skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment
  •

Physical requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 90 lbs regularly; up to 150 lbs occasionally
  • Push up to 250 lbs; stand, walk, climb, stoop, and crawl as needed
  • Fine motor skills for precision repairs
  • Work extended periods outdoors in all weather
  •

Working conditions - what to expect in the field

  • All weather - rain, heat, cold
  • Roadside and jobsite deployments
  • Noise, fumes, oils and solvents
  • Slippery, uneven, and moving surfaces

Must pass a drug test and have a clean driving record.
