PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
The Vehicle & Equipment Management Leader II directs and participates in the daily maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the City's diverse fleet including light duty vehicles (police/emergency), heavy-duty trucks (sanitation/dump), and specialized grounds equipment. This "working foreman" role ensures all city assets are safe, reliable, and compliant with state and federal regulations while supervising a team of multi skilled technicians.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Vehicle and Equipment Management Leader II reports directly to the Garage Supervisor.
The Vehicle and Equipment Management Leader II supervises the Automotive Service Technician, Automotive Mechanic I and Automotive Mechanic II.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent plus five (5) years gasoline, diesel and hydraulic mechanics including two (2) years at the journeyman level performing repairs on construction and other heavy equipment and at least two (2) years of supervisory experience required; or an equivalent combination of education (such as graduation from an automotive trade school) and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Must have knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform required maintenance and repair functions. Must be able to maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and departments. Ability to work long and sometimes irregular hours under difficult conditions as required. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and maintain repair records.

Vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class B CDL.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work in this classification is both indoors and outdoors. Will travel to other City locations as required. Requires ability to maintain on-call status.
