Position Overview:
The Virtual Construction Services (VCS) Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the VCS team. This position provides leadership through clear communication, effective training, strategic scheduling, and organized documentation. The VCS Manager ensures that virtual construction processes align with organizational goals and contribute to successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the VCS team by planning activities, assigning tasks, addressing challenges, and providing ongoing training and mentorship.
- Maintain and regularly update staffing forecasts for the VCS group.
- Develop, implement, and manage the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Execution Plan.
- Research and adopt innovative virtual construction tools and technologies to enhance team performance.
- Advocate for and integrate virtual construction practices across Pre-Construction and Operations teams.
- Create and manage budgets and schedules related to VCS scope.
- Monitor project milestones to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, while supporting the growth and development of emerging team leads.
- Ensure construction drawings are accurate, current, and compliant with quality standards.
- Organize and manage shop drawings and related documentation.
- Oversee the completion of project detailing and close-out activities.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Fabrication Manager to improve the clarity and accuracy of deliverables such as spool drawings, assembly drawings, and material lists.
- Identify and implement process improvements to support more efficient installation methods.
Position Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2015 or newer), Fabrication CADmep, Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk BIM 360 Glue.
- Strong organizational skills for managing digital files and project documentation.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Solid understanding of construction industry practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve design coordination challenges.
- High attention to detail to minimize errors and mitigate project risks.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and focused on delivering results in a team-oriented environment.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Provide guidance and direction for a team of approximately 20-40 VCS professionals.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on team-generated drawings.
- Lead project turnover meetings to support smooth project transitions.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to address coordination matters involving subcontractors.
- Support team accountability and ensure project deadlines are met.
Preferred Education and Experience:
