Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) Full Scope Surgical Practice
Position Overview
Palm Health is assisting a longstanding client and is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant with vascular surgery experience (preferred) to join a high-volume, multi-hospital surgical program providing comprehensive vascular care across the full continuum. This is a highly OR-focused, hands-on surgical PA role supporting complex and routine vascular procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Physician Assistant will function as an integral member of a collaborative vascular surgery team, supporting multiple surgeons across an integrated health system with primary base operations at a flagship facility and rotational coverage at affiliated hospitals.
Practice Environment & Locations
- Primary practice site: Main/flagship hospital within a large integrated health system
- Additional coverage: Multiple affiliated hospitals within the regional network
- Multi-site vascular surgery program with coordinated surgical and inpatient services
Clinical Scope & Responsibilities
This role encompasses full-spectrum vascular surgery support, including:
- First assist in the operating room (primary responsibility)
- Inpatient rounding and hospital-based patient management
- Vascular surgery consults across the hospital system
- Pre-operative and post-operative patient care
- Limited outpatient clinic involvement to ensure continuity of care
Case Mix Includes
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repairs (open and endovascular support)
- Carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
- Peripheral arterial bypass procedures
- Amputations (above-knee and below-knee)
- Broad range of bread and butter vascular surgery cases
- Comprehensive perioperative vascular patient management
Role Structure
- Approximately 80% Operating Room / First Assist
- Approximately 20% Inpatient rounding, consults, and outpatient continuity
Schedule
- MondayFriday daytime schedule aligned with OR block time
- Primary focus is OR-based surgical support
- Integrated inpatient rounding and clinic responsibilities during weekday workflow
Call Responsibilities
- Weekday call: 1:5 to 1:6 rotation (single-hospital coverage)
- Weekend call: Rotational coverage across multiple hospitals within the system
- Responsibilities include emergent vascular consults, inpatient management, and post-operative care
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of surgical Physician Assistant experience required
- Vascular surgery experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable functioning as first assist in complex vascular procedures
- Ability to work independently in a high-acuity inpatient surgical environment
