Job Purpose:
- The VAS Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of packaging equipment and automated systems within the Value-Added Services (VAS) operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on packaging equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on VAS equipment.
- Maintain equipment such as labeling machines, shrink wrappers, conveyors, and tapers.
- Respond to breakdowns and production interruptions.
- Inspect equipment to identify potential failures.
- Document maintenance and repair work.
- Support equipment installation and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Uphold safety and operational standards while working on the floor
Qualifications:
- 5+ years maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience with packaging equipment is strongly preferred.
Education and/or Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED) is preferred.
Language Skills Sets:
- Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
