Description

The Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school serving students in grades 6–12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, coaching, and developing the program and players.
  • Model and effectively inspire essential team concepts of dedication, responsibility, teamwork, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Generate enthusiasm and pride among students in the program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach skills and strategies associated with the game at the high school level.
  • Engage with student-athletes, colleagues, parents, opponents, referees, etc. with respect and positivity.
  • Philosophical alignment with striving to win while promoting the bigger picture of character, commitment, and team supportiveness.
  • Attend staff trainings and coaching clinics, seek out materials to develop coaching expertise and effectiveness.
  • Work as a collaborative member of the program and Northwest School community.
  • Know and adhere to Northwest School, Emerald Sound Conference, and WIAA policies and procedures.
  • Promote and work toward social justice in oneself and society.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise and experience coaching volleyball, preferably at the high school level or above.
  • First Aid/CPR training, sudden cardiac arrest training, and head injury training are current (training provided, if needed)
  • Successful completion of background check.

Compensation/Details: Competitive coaching stipend, based on experience. This is a stipend only position.

Availability: Monday-Friday (and potentially occasional Saturdays), August 24th through late October/early November.
