VARSITY FOOTBALL - ASSISTANT COACH

JOB LOCATION: Watertown High School

START DATE: approximately August 3, 2026

END DATE: Through end of football season - approximately November 20, 2026

SALARY: Extra-Curricular Salary Compensation Schedule - (Category 6 - $3,100 - $4,100)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The District believes athletics to be an extension of the classroom. Coaches perform a wide variety of duties related to their athletes. This position requires the coach to communicate well and have patience in working with a team of high school athletes to produce success:

  • Coordinate and supervise football practices after school;
  • Coordinate and supervise athletes at football matches and tournaments;
  • Participation in football events including series leading to state.

Watertown High School is a school of 1,200 students with a full range of athletic opportunities for the students. The team has excellent facilities available to them, including a Fitness Center that is also available to the student-athletes. WHS is a member of the Badger Conference.

QUALIFICATIONS: This coaching position requires applicants to be:

  • Committed to student-athlete development, prioritizing academic success, character growth, and well-being.
  • Able to work effectively with the full coaching staff, promoting continuity and development across all program levels (Varsity, JV, etc.).
  • Organized and professional, demonstrating strong leadership, dependability, and the ability to manage team operations (equipment, communication, scheduling).
  • Knowledgeable about WIAA rules, NFHS guidelines, and sport safety best practices, or willing to learn and adhere to them.
  • Certified in Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED, or willing to obtain required certifications prior to the season.
  • Skilled in football instruction, with the ability to design effective training sessions that build technical, tactical, and physical competencies.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings. WHS's 75 teachers and 4 administrators serve 950 students on a 150-acre campus that includes two charter schools - Endeavor Charter School and eCampus Charter School. WHS provides an extensive curriculum for the students, as well as an array of athletic, non-athletic, and academic co-curricular activities for students.
