Newman Catholic High School is currently accepting applications for a varsity boys' (coed) soccer head coach.
Job Summary:
The head coach is responsible for planning, directing and leading an education based athletic program that seeks to develop the whole student athlete.
Qualifications:
Must meet the head coaching requirements of NC and WIAA.
Strong Leadership Skills
Knowledge in the sport of soccer
Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals
Ability to analyze problems and make decisions
CPR, AED & First Aid Certified (within one year)
Licensed Teacher (preferred)
Experience in coaching and/or competing in an education based athletic program (preferred)
Other soccer coaching certifications (preferred)
Job Goal:
To accept the responsibility of the program and work with the student athletes in the sport assigned to provide life lessons that will positively impact the physical, social, and emotional well being of all who are involved. Provide leadership and coordination of the entire boys soccer program (youth through high school). The head coach is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of every student-athlete participating in the program. Coaches should encourage and promote multi-sport participation within the school district.
Responsibilities:
Accept and implement the co-curricular philosophy of Newman Catholic High School
Follows rules and regulations of the school, conference, and the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA)
Complete the WIAA Rules Video and Exam yearly
Maintain membership in the appropriate coaches associations and participate so our school has representation.
Attend camps, clinics, seminars, and in-service programs in order to improve coaching skills and stay current with new trends in coaching, training, and safety procedures
Provide proper instruction of the sport, and develop and maintain current knowledge
Attend school, conference and WIAA coaches meetings
Organize, schedule, and supervise all practice sessions and games in conjunction with AD
Supervise all student-athletes participating in the program at all times (locker rooms, practices, events, bus rides, etc.
Assures that the program will reflect proper attitude and conduct at all times
Supervise use of equipment in your sport
Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to insure the safety of each student athlete.
Supervise assistant coaches and delegate responsibilities as appropriate
Organize and participate in an end of the season information and evaluation sessions with all assistant coaches
Responsible for reporting scores and disseminating team information for publicity
Provide leadership of the program for all levels and work to develop continuity between the community and school programs
Appropriate communication with administration, coaching staff, team, and parents that will include program policies, awards procedures, goals, and schedules.
Work with Activities Director to determine goals and direction of the program
Participate in pre and post season meetings with the Athletic Director. The postseason meeting will serve as an evaluation conference
Encourage participation in sports and other co-curricular activities other than his/her own
Encourage participation in strength and conditioning programs throughout the year
Represent the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct
Have fun and build positive relationships
All other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
