About the Role

Picture your day: you start by walking the floor for a daily production review, checking flow through each manufacturing cell, and aligning the team on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale. You remove roadblocks, escalate issues when needed, and keep leadership updated on key developments. Throughout the day, you coordinate with Maintenance, HR, Quality, and Engineering, fine-tune schedules and overtime across shifts, and ensure team members are trained and current in Master Control. You are the go-to expert for product and process knowledge in your department or Value Stream.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop all production team members within the department/Value Stream; set expectations and drive accountability across all shifts, including off-shift supervision for production, staffing, and quality needs.
  • Own timekeeping, attendance, and disciplinary documentation for direct reports, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Ensure every team member is trained and up to date on assigned tasks within Master Control.
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with Avalign and FDA quality system requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Act as the primary source of product and process expertise for the department/Value Stream.
  • Serve as the central point of contact with Maintenance, HR, Quality, and Engineering.
  • Maintain steady product flow through the manufacturing cell to hit established lead-times.
  • Lead the daily production review walk; drive corrective actions and escalate when necessary.
  • Keep management informed of significant operational developments.
  • Build and execute production plans across shifts; determine and communicate overtime needs.
  • Create and manage cross-training plans using a training matrix to balance skills across all shifts.
  • Identify key constraints, staff to plan, and continuously rebalance resources.
  • Recruit, develop, promote, and when necessary, administer discipline for hourly team members.
  • Own performance management for hourly team members, including preparing and delivering annual reviews.
  • Perform spot quality checks, 5S audits, and Layered Process Audits.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years of combined experience in biomedical/medical device and/or military; or 8 years combined industry, military, and/or related (general manufacturing, quality, logistics) experience.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred; military leadership counts.

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of company products, processes, GMP, and basic quality systems.
  • Strong time management; able to re-prioritize as conditions change.
  • Coaching, counseling, motivating, training, recognition, and goal communication skills.
  • Effective team player across departments and multiple shifts.
  • Analytical and problem-solving strengths; basic Lean Manufacturing familiarity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; exceptional public speaking.
  • Exceptional computer proficiency; organized, detail-oriented, professional presence.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and highly motivated.
  • Medical device experience is a plus, not a requirement.
