Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
The UWG Outfitter Logistics Manager supports UWG Outfitters by managing logistics, inventory operations, student staffing, and key risk controls that safeguard the units financial and operational integrity. This role oversees inbound and outbound shipments, including receiving, documenting, and processing deliveries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency. The manager supervises all student labor teams, providing job specific training, scheduling, and development to support cashiering, logistics, web orders, inventory, and event operations. The position manages inventory accuracy by overseeing cycle counts, monitoring reconciliation of discrepancies, and coordinating audits in partnership with the management team. In addition, the manager maintains P-Card responsibilities for Auxiliary Services, supports the store through opening and closing procedures, and helps enforce compliance with financial and operational policies. Success in this role requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on managing reputational, cash-handling, inventory, and purchasing risks to protect resources, control costs, and support a seamless retail experience in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities

Oversee inbound and outbound shipments for UWG Outfitters, including receiving, documenting, and processing deliveries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency. Manage shipping logistics, carrier relationships, tracking shipments, and resolving delivery issues. Manage inventory control by directing cycle counts, monitoring reconciliation of discrepancies, and coordinating audits in partnership with the management team.

Supervise student labor teams of 18-25 students across cashiering, logistics, web orders, inventory, retail floor replenishment, and event operations. This position serves as a liaison with the Office of Human Resources for recruitment and hiring of students. Additionally, this position is responsible for on the job operational onboarding, scheduling, and professional development to optimize team performance. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and productivity. Ensure that the sales floor is consistently stocked, organized, and merchandised to support a seamless customer experience.

Manage operational and reputational risks for UWG Outfitters by enforcing compliance with university financial and purchasing policies, maintaining P-Card responsibilities for Auxiliary Services, and ensuring accurate reconciliation and adherence to audit standards. Provide oversight of store opening and closing procedures, ensuring safeguards are followed and institutional resources are protected. Uphold the professional appearance and presentation of the store during daily operations and events, reinforcing customer trust and protecting the universitys reputation.

Plan and coordinate logistics for in-store and external campus events by managing staffing, inventory planning, visual merchandising, and communication with campus partners such as Facilities and ITS. Ensure the UWG Outfitters van is fueled and maintained as needed to support event operations. Align staffing, inventory, and operational resources to ensure the successful execution of promotional, seasonal, and campus related events.

Proposed Salary
$50,000 - $56,000 annually. Paid on a monthly basis.

ABILITIES
This position requires the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and campus partners to achieve organizational goals. The manager must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and compliance with university and system standards. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed is also essential. In addition, the role requires the ability to lift to 20 pounds, drive a university-owned van or box truck, and ensure the physical replenishment and upkeep of the sales floor.
KNOWLEDGE
This position requires a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain practices related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management. Strong knowledge of retail operations is essential, including floor replenishment, merchandising, and customer service standards. The role also requires familiarity with risk management principles related to cash handling, P-Card use, inventory controls, and compliance with financial policies, as well as event coordination logistics such as staffing, inventory planning, and collaboration with vendors and campus partners.
SKILLS
The UWG Outfitter Logistics Manager must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced retail environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and inventory management software is required. Success in this role also depends on effective leadership and supervisory skills to develop diverse student labor teams, along with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills that balance operational efficiency with financial accountability.
