Our leading food processing and distribution company is looking for a Utility Technician / Mechanic to support our night shift operations. The Utility Technician / Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and performing preventative maintenance on plant utility systems including HVAC equipment, RTUs, chillers, boilers, and engine room operations. This role supports overall facility performance through equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and ongoing system reliability initiatives. Additional responsibilities include assisting with equipment installations, startups, adjustments, and continuous process improvement projects throughout the plant. Benefits:

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate preferred). Required

  • 3 years of Ammonia Refrigeration utility experience. Required

  • Strong knowledge or experience with Boilers, industrial steam and plant utilities systems. Required

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, piping, and/or electrical schematics and blueprints. Required

  • Ammonia Operator Training Level I or II, GCAP, RETA, CARO, or CIRO Certifications. Preferred

  • PSM and SAP experience. Preferred

  • Experience working with vendors and contractors. Preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, service and repair equipment for steam, refrigeration, water, compressed air and HVAC systems

  • Perform rounds and keep logs of daily operations and for engine room, boiler room and refrigeration equipment

  • Test and monitor boiler and condenser tower water samples

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels / recirculatory, purges, evaporators / RMAU’s, heat exchangers, and control valves / isolation valves while using the Original Equipment Manufacture’s guidelines

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of steam boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC systems and air compressors, general facility support equipment

  • Participates in the PSM Program

  • Log time and material usage into SAP/SIGGA for PMs and corrective maintenance

  • Responsible for housekeeping of engine rooms, Boiler room, MCC rooms, shops, and all other work areas

  • Able to assist or perform PM’s using SOP’s, LOTO and P&ID’s

  • Able to work overtime and holidays when needed

  • Responsible for training employees on relevant content
