UTILITY STRATEGIC PLANNING ADMINISTRATOR (CLASS CODE 3013)

Salary: $110,481.00 Annually Location: New Orleans, LA Job Type: Probationary Job Number: 11492/3013 Department: Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans Opening Date: 03/13/2026 Closing Date: Continuous

Description: Professional, supervisory and administrative work performing managerial, operational, analytical, research. Work includes developing utility strategic plans, supporting and advising staff on strategic initiatives; managing strategic projects and programs; and liaison with committees on strategic policy, communication and engagement; and related work as required. Supervision includes delegated authority for hiring, training, assigning and evaluating work of a professional staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight (8) years of exempt level experience in planning (utility, business, urban, regional, military or similar).
  • At least three years of this experience must have included developing strategic plans or master plans, supporting and advising staff on strategic initiatives, and managing strategic projects and programs.
  • Two years of this experience must have been supervisory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience preferred in water utility related program planning (storm water drainage, drinking water, sewerage, power generation).
  • Experience preferred in green infrastructure planning or project management.

Certification:

  • A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required non-supervisory planning experience.
  • If appointed, a Strategic Management Professional certification (SMP), Strategic Planning Professional certification (SPP), or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification must be obtained during the probationary period. No probationary period may last longer than one year. Failure to obtain the required certification will result in termination.

Domicile Requirements:

  • Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application.
  • Residency requirements are waived for all Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the citys residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the Sewerage and Water Board.
