Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a leading renewable energy organization to hire a licensed electrician to support operations and maintenance across utility-scale solar facilities in Illinois.

Your Typical Week

Monday, you’re rolling into a solar farm at first light, reviewing single-line diagrams before opening an inverter cabinet. By Wednesday, you’ve closed out preventive maintenance tickets, replaced a faulty breaker, and documented test results on your tablet. Friday wraps with a customer walk-through, confirming all corrective actions and safety checks—then you’re off to the next site.

What You’ll Tackle

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale PV systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
• Inspect, test, repair, and replace electrical components and assemblies.
• Service solar inverters and associated electrical equipment.
• Interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams accurately.
• Complete detailed service reports and maintenance records.
• Collaborate with customer contacts and internal technical teams.
• Champion OSHA and company safety protocols to maintain a zero-incident environment.
• Travel extensively throughout Illinois; occasional nationwide travel as needed.

What You Bring

• Licensed Electrician with strong diagnostic capabilities.
• Proficiency reading electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude; able to work independently.
• Clear, professional communication and customer service skills.
• Comfort using computers, tablets, and mobile apps for reporting.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
• Ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.

Preferred Background

• Experience with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
• Industrial electrical maintenance or commercial electrician work.
• Exposure to utility-scale renewable assets and power generation equipment.
• Familiarity with inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Commissioning or startup experience.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Walk, stand, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
• Climb ladders and stairs.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Travel up to 100%, with possible overnight stays.
