Are you ready to put your mechanical skills to work in a meaningful position where your skills make a visible difference? Lincoln Wastewater System is seeking a Utility Plant Mechanic I to join our dedicated team and help keep essential systems functioning safely and efficiently.

What Youll Do

• Perform mechanical and physical maintenance at wastewater treatment facilities and remote pumping stations
• Install, repair, service, and troubleshoot conventional and specialized equipment
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to maintain operations
• Understand how equipment performance impacts treatment processes and system reliability
• Follow written work orders and supervisory direction to complete assignments accurately and on time
• Document labor, materials, and maintenance activities in the CMMS
• Coordinate equipment status and downtime with facility staff to minimize operational disruptions
• Respond to emergency and unscheduled maintenance needs to restore minimum service levels
• Follow all safety procedures, use proper PPE, and comply with City and Department policies
• Contribute positively as a reliable team member while maintaining professional standards and attendance

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday. 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent
• Experience as a mechanic, including experience in the repair and maintenance of specialized and standard mechanical and/or electrical equipment found in a utility plant

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.

Necessary Special Requirements

• Possession of a valid drivers license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.
