Purpose of Job:
Mechanical Repair Multi-craft Utility Technician will be join a growing industrial coating applicator company based in Chattanooga, TN. The technician will be responsible for learning and engaging in the preparation, application, and surface finishing of coatings on a wide range of industrial equipment components.

Summary:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability desired.
Primary Responsibilities/Activities:
Technician will be trained on company specific equipment including lathes, cylindrical grinders, dynamic balancing, chrome plating, and thermal spray, as well as additional machine tools.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and written work instructions to complete work
Use precision measuring devices to check thickness, surface roughness, total-indicated-runout, and dimensional requirements
Mask parts using various masking materials before application of coating
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Complete regular safety training
Operate a forklift, hoists, and other positioning equipment
Use various machine tools including lathes, grinders, sandblasting, coating, polishing, and buffing to process parts
Complete basic operator maintenance of equipment
Utilize technology, software, and spreadsheets to document work performed and ensure accuracy of repairs
On-the-job training will include:
Proficient use precision measuring equipment including dial indicators, thickness gauges, pi-tape, micrometers, surface roughness profilometers
Preparation steps required for coating application including visual inspection of parts and sandblasting
Operating of various coating technologies including plasma, HVOF, twin wire arc, plating rectifiers
Use of polishing equipment to achieve variety of surface finishes down to a mirror finish
Operation of lathes, cylindrical grinders, positioners, and other machine tools
Diagnosing problems with rotating equipment components
Skills and training preferred but not required:
Proficiency operating machine tools including lathes, mills, cylindrical grinders
Operating of lifting equipment including cranes and hoists
Proficiency MIG, TIG, or stick welding
Personal Skills required:
Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and as an individual
Remain focused and manage personal productivity and quality to meet customer requirements
Display the ability to focus on problems as opportunities
Problem solving mentality that is concerned with root cause and not assigning the blame
Mechanical aptitude
Computer skills necessary for data entry -- production and quality
Education and Training:
Minimum Education: High school graduate or GED
Engineering or other technical certificate/degree a plus
Experience in a lean/5s environment preferred

Weekend Shift shift: 5am-5pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.Initial Training will be completed Monday-Friday 5am -1:30pm.
Weekday Shift: 5am-1:30pm Monday - Friday.
Additonal hours/overtime may be required as needed. Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
