Description

Under direct supervision, receives and accounts for water and other revenue collections.

Examples of Duties

  • Accounts for register cash, cash payments, credit card receipts, and security of register transactions.
  • Receives and processes commercial and residential deposits for utility service, water payments, and other miscellaneous fees and charges.
  • Heavy customer contact, as well as heavy phones to answer questions, and resolve problems and concerns, and inquiries regarding accounts, payments, etc. Researches customer problems, updates account information on computer, starts new accounts, and issues meters for new housing and construction projects.
  • Performs general clerical and receptionist duties including, but not limited to, typing, filing, 10-key, data entry, cashier, and record keeping.
  • Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Informs supervisor of all work activities.
  • Assists other departments and co-workers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Must be able to work Monday - Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • A valid Texas Drivers License is required and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least one year of customer service and cashier experience is required.
  • Data entry operator and general office work experience is preferred.

Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).

Desired Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • General working knowledge of computer operations (data entry) and accounting for money.
  • Excellent English grammar, and bilingual skills preferred.
  • Must have speed and accuracy in the operation of 10-key calculator.
  • Must have good typing skills up to 30 net words per minute, computer data entry, mathematical, communicative, and general office skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with distraught and irate customers and maintain a pleasant personality at all times, handle multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure and stress.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to see, talk, hear, write, and follow oral and written directives.
  • Must also have good hand/eye coordination to for data entry and 10-key operations.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and squat to file and retrieve files.
  • May be required to move various boxed documents weighing up to 52 pounds with the use of a dolly for assistance.
