About the Role
City of Virginia Beach Public Utilities is seeking a reliable and professional Customer Service Representative to support daily office operations. This role requires managing a high volume of phone calls and providing exceptional service to residents, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Respond promptly and professionally to incoming phone calls and emails.
Provide accurate information regarding the Backflow Prevention Program, including testing requirements, compliance status, and notifications.
Document all customer interactions in program databases and tracking applications.
Enter and update customer, contact, and location records with precision.
Assist with preparing and mailing annual backflow test notifications and other correspondence.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of professionalism in all interactions.
Support the Backflow Program team with general administrative tasks.
Use appropriate de-escalation techniques to assist irate or frustrated customers in accordance with department policies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent phone etiquette and a courteous, professional demeanor.
