Recruitment Notes
This is a professional educational position with Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension. An employee in this class is responsible for providing diagnostics of plant problems due to pests, diseases, and abiotic environmental causes for Miami-Dade County residents, identify plant species and weeds for homeowners, providing advice on vegetable gardening, ornamental plants, and fruit trees suitable to landscapes located in Miami-Dade County. Other responsibilities include writing factsheets, articles for newsletters and other magazines for gardeners, information on tropical horticulture and gardening for the Extension website and various social media platforms. Additional responsibilities include working with Miami-Dade County Horticulture Extension Agent and Master Gardeners volunteers and assisting in developing and conducting educational classes, workshops, and plant clinics for residents, providing monthly and other reports, and performing other related work as requested and assigned by the Miami-Dade County Horticulture Extension Agent and County Extension Director.
