Job Summary
The Upward Bound Summer Experience Program is seeking a Spanish Instructor to teach and motivate students entering grades 10-12. The instructor will design and facilitate engaging lesson plans, teach, and ensure students are well prepared for the courses they will take during the academic school year.
Responsibilities
The instructor will be responsible for:
- Preparing a syllabus, curriculum, activities/assignments, and assessments for the subject area
- Preparing for and meeting classes as assigned and maintaining a safe learning environment
- Demonstrating concern for academic growth of all students by employing best practice strategies
- Evaluating and documenting student progress, and communicating successes and concerns to Upward Bound permanent staff
- Requesting and assisting in maintaining department equipment, supplies, and materials
- Participating in scheduled meetings with permanent staff and any relevant Upward Bound activities
- Assuming other duties as requested by the supervisor
- Following policies and procedures as stated in the Upward Bound handbook
- Submitting documentation as requested by the Upward Bound program in a timely fashion
- Encouraging and supporting Upward Bound activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies
Requirements
- Completion of a bachelors degree in Educational subject area
- At least one year of teaching experience at the high school level
- Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in teaching and the ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college
