HOURS:                           Full Time (40)

Purpose Statement:
CCA's Exceptional Education classes and the program teaches students with learning disabilities, focusing on providing appropriate and needed instruction and assessment using a biblical perspective. 
 
Scope
The goal of Exceptional Student Education is to develop the unique gifts of each exceptional student, prayerfully ensuring the highest achievement of each student's extraordinary God-given academic talents. Expanding their learning opportunities by collaborating with the family, faculty, and students under the direction of the ESE Administrator.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Model Christ in word and deed
  • Take guidance and counsel from your Department Head
  • Write lesson plans for all classes on a weekly basis
  • Teach entire assigned curriculum utilizing national standards and biblical integration
  • Establish and maintain communication with parents as specified by administrative policy
  • Read Calvary Christian Academy email/staff communications and respond if requested
  • Engage students in active learning
  • Use assessments to re-teach lessons
  • Create materials for differentiated instruction
  • Work with School Leader to plan intervention services for students
  • Attend/participate in Back to School Night and other school scheduled events by administration
  • Participate in the accreditation process for the school’s continuous improvement plan
  • Participate in professional development to stay current in your field.
  • Participate in scheduled department meetings
  • Fulfill any assigned supervisor duties
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction to all Special Education students
  • Decorate classroom seasonally, scripturally and quarterly
  • Research and share information about best practices in Special Education and Mathematics
  • Create long and short-term goals for students
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and teachers daily
  • Attend the Chapel that is scheduled for your predominant grade level
  • Adhere to specified professional dress code
  • Compile and maintain an up to date substitute folder
  • Secure and straighten up the classroom at the end of each day
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds and sit or stand for an extended period of time

  • Collaborating well with others is essential to this job. Collaborating with Faculty and Staff to help a child improve as well as with parents, Administration and other teachers, requiring a professional attitude and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Organizational skills are essential characteristics of this job. Accurate record-keeping on a child’s progress, handling problem behaviors, and serving as a source of information and support in the regular classroom. There may be a need to work as co-teachers in a regular classroom with a general education teacher.
  • Achieving necessary teacher licensure requirements by meeting federal and state guidelines. May need a special education license in order to teach at any level from kindergarten through twelfth grade. May specialize in a particular area, such as autism or behavior disorders requiring. This requires additional classes in this area and other specialized training. 
  • Committed to on-going professional development to maintain certifications and professional knowledge in order to meet met annual license requirements.

  • Attended a four-year program majoring in Special Education, certification and experience preferred

Work Schedule:
 
Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
 
Full time (40 hours/week); however, the incumbent may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in a circumstantial emergency affecting the church facilities.
