Position Summary
Winston-Salem State University is looking for a University Library Technician. This position provides access services assistance and oversight during daytime library hours, 7:30am-4:30pm. The role of this position is to maintain the services at the circulation desk, including, checking in and out material, maintaining the textbook collection, supervising student assistants, and shelving books. This position works Monday through Friday with some occasional Saturday work.

Competency Client/Customer Service Describe the specific job duties related to this competency
Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Actively listen to the needs of the patrons and determine how best to assist them. The circulation desk is one of the first points of contact with patrons in the library and this position serves as the first level of customer service. This position check material in and out to patrons and connects them with additional material or services when needed.

This position works with the library's catalog and other technology to provide services to patrons. On a daily basis this position works in the fulfillment modules of the library's system and also helps trouble shoot copies, printers, and scanners.

Actively communicates the needs of the patrons with other staff members in order to find material or complete research. Explains procedures to patrons for how to obtain material both in the library and beyond.

Oversees student workers and plans their work and shifts. The is position organizes the circulation desk during the day time hours and provides the management team with detailed reports on the needs of the desk.
