OverviewReporting directly to the Compensation Manager, the Senior Compensation Consultant assumes a lead role on the Classification and Compensation team for the University. The role provides technical expertise and advice to key stakeholders—including hiring managers, University leadership, and the Human Resources team—to influence Classification and Compensation decisions, ensuring alignment with the organization's policies, practices, structures, philosophy, and business strategy. The position also leads policy development, compliance, reporting, and data analytics for the Compensation and Classification function.Responsibilities20% Conduct multiple and single‑incumbent position and salary benchmarking studies for staff promotion, reclassification, additional duties, skills, equity, reassignment, and retention. Recommend appropriate compensation for reclassifications and other pay actions, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.20% Evaluate position descriptions and supplementary information to determine appropriate classification, salary band, FLSA status, and other criteria. Conduct job audits as needed and communicate findings clearly.15% Serve as a subject‑matter expert for university personnel and Classification and Compensation staff regarding HRM policies, regulations, and laws. Provide senior‑level guidance and support.15% Lead Classification and Compensation data analytics—collecting, compiling, analyzing, organizing, and communicating metrics related to pay, productivity, and other functional areas.10% Lead the State of South Carolina Department of Administration annual reporting and audits related to Classification and Compensation.10% Lead internal compliance audit processes, ensuring actions are compliant with policies and were executed in a timely, thorough manner.10% Review and approve personnel actions related to job changes and/or base pay adjustments, communicating decisions effectively.QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in human resources management or a related field.Equal Opportunity StatementThe Medical University of South Carolina is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
