Job Summary
Lunder 10 is an integrated thirty-two bed inpatient hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant unit that serves a young adult to elderly patient population.
Patients are frequently followed from time of diagnosis or referral through end of life. Many patients have a diagnosis of leukemia, non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma, sarcoma, or multiple myeloma.

Education
Current high school student required.
High school diploma or equivalent not required for this summer internship role.
Interest in healthcare, administration, customer service, or hospital operations preferred.
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
Not applicable. This role is intended for a current high school student participating in a summer internship experience.
Licenses and Credentials
No licenses or credentials required.
Certified Health Unit Coordinator certification not required.
Experience
No formal work experience required.
Prior volunteer, school-based, customer service, babysitting, camp counselor, office, retail, or other people-facing experience preferred.
Interest in learning about healthcare and supporting a hospital unit strongly preferred.
Schedule Requirements
This is a temporary summer internship position.
Schedule will be determined based on the needs of the unit and the student's availability.
Weekend and holiday availability is not required unless specifically discussed and approved in advance.
Role Scope
This role is designed as an observational and support-based summer internship. The intern may assist with basic administrative, hospitality, and unit support tasks under the guidance of unit staff.
This role does not include independent clinical responsibilities or direct patient care.
The intern is expected to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff
Strong interest in learning about healthcare, hospital operations, and teamwork in a clinical setting
Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with patients, families, and staff
Ability to remain calm and respectful in a busy or fast-paced environment
Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and learn new skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
Dependable, punctual, and professional
Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, unit coordinators, patient care assistants, and other members of the care team
Basic computer skills preferred, including familiarity with email and Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Outlook
Ability to use standard office equipment with training, including phones, printers, scanners, and copiers
Familiarity with medical terminology is not required, but interest in learning is preferred
