Underwriting Manager (MCA / Alternative Finance)

Introduction
Craft Recruiting has partnered with a fast-growing, reputable alternative financing company to hire an Underwriting Manager. This team is scaling quickly as a result of tremendous deal flow. As a result, they need a hands-on leader who can both produce and raise the standard—someone who can price deals, manage a team an, run finals, and help the team move faster without losing credit discipline.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example: price and finalize deals while maintaining strong decision quality.
- Act as a senior decision-maker on final reviews and tough structuring calls.
- Coach and elevate underwriting performance (speed, accuracy, consistency).
- Improve underwriting workflows and execution discipline so submissions convert faster.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure clean handoffs and funding readiness.
Performance expectation: An ideal candidate can consistently price ~25 deals/day and handle ~8 final underwrites/day, while also helping raise team output and standards.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 6+ years underwriting MCA / revenue-based financing and/or SMB lending in a high-volume environment
- Demonstrated ability to price deals independently and make final decisions
- Prior leadership or mentoring experience strongly preferred (manager, team lead, or "go-to” senior)
Skills
- Strong credit instincts and comfort operating at speed
- Merchant-facing communication skills (firm, clear, professional)
- Process mindset: can spot friction and tighten execution
- High accountability, low drama, team-first leadership style
Education
Bachelor's preferred; equivalent experience welcomed.
Location
Onsite near Red Bank, NJ (Monmouth County / Jersey Shore-Bayshore region; NYC accessible via Client).
Commutes often work well from Matawan/Aberdeen, Holmdel/Lincroft, Middletown/Atlantic Highlands, Keyport/Union Beach, and surrounding areas.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base: $100,000–$120,000 (DOE)
- OTE: $160,000–$200,000
