Job Requirements
  • Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited Sonography program or equivalent
  • Certifications Requirements: ARDMS certification in OB/GYN, BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association), and state licensure if applicable
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of sonographer experience specifically in Maternal Fetal Medicine; previous travel experience preferred
  • Other Requirements: Ability to lift and reposition patients, excellent communication skills, proficiency with electronic medical records, knowledge of fetal abnormalities, and ability to work independently and demonstrate clinical judgment

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality obstetric ultrasound imaging and procedures including first trimester nuchal translucency, anatomy scans, doppler assessments, biophysical profiles, fetal echocardiography, transvaginal ultrasounds, amniocentesis, and chorionic villus sampling.
  • Select appropriate transducers and technical parameters to ensure accurate diagnostics, utilizing doppler, color imaging, M-mode, and real-time techniques as needed.
  • Review patient medical records, lab results, and physician orders to gather relevant clinical information prior to examinations and communicate effectively with patients to obtain thorough history data.
  • Calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment, and evaluate new products for potential department use while notifying biomedical staff of any equipment issues.
  • Participate in department quality assurance initiatives, document and maintain records of performed ultrasound examinations, including billing codes, to ensure proper patient charges.
