UI/UX Developer
Location: Sparks, MD
Role Overview
Zachary Piper is seeking a UI/UX Designer to design, build, and maintain modern, accessible user interfaces for enterprise web and mobile applications. This role requires strong UI/UX design fundamentals and strong frontend engineering skills. Product development experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance responsive, accessible user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks and design systems
- Partner with UX leadership to conduct usability testing, analyze feedback, and implement data‑driven design improvements
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to understand requirements, assess technical feasibility, identify risks, and estimate effort
- Gather and define requirements for new or evolving applications
- Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups
- Build rapid prototypes and proof‑of‑concepts to validate design and technical approaches
- Ensure designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) and performance best practices
- Stay current with emerging UX standards, tools, and technologies, including AI‑assisted design tools
Required Skills & Experience
UI/UX & Design
- Strong expertise in user‑centered design, usability testing, and accessibility (WCAG/ARIA)
- Proficiency with Figma; experience with Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or Balsamiq
Frontend Development
Strong hands‑on experience with:
HTML5, CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid), LESS/SASS
JavaScript (ES6+), JSON
Modern frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue
Experience building responsive, mobile‑first SPAs and PWAs
Focus on cross‑browser compatibility and performance
UI Frameworks & Tooling
- Experience with Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, or Material UI
- Familiarity with Git‑based workflows and Agile/Scrum environments
- Regular use of VS Code or similar development tools
Preferred Experience
- Design systems, design tokens, or component‑driven development (e.g., Storybook)
- Exposure to AI‑assisted design tools (Figma AI, Uizard, Galileo AI)
- Basic backend integration knowledge (.NET / .NET Core or Node.js)
- Understanding of MVC design patterns
- Product‑focused development experience (not design‑only roles)
Compensation
- Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
