Turbo-Air and Centac Compressor Service Specialist

Where: Phoenix, AZ

Pay: $35.00–$50.00/hour DOE. Full-time, hourly. $3,000 Sign On Bonus!

What you will do

  • Commission, start up, troubleshoot, and repair centrifugal compressor lines—specifically Centac and Turbo Air—as well as associated compressed air components.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to diagnose issues and verify equipment performance against manuals and specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings/schematics; investigate complex faults and execute effective fixes.
  • Document every job thoroughly: work orders, maintenance checklists, and daily time sheets.
  • Recommend methods and system improvements; elevate awareness of Ingersoll Rand programs like Package CARE, Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection.
  • Perform safety assessments and complete preventive maintenance and 47-point inspections on compressors, refrigerated and desiccant dryers, and other components.
  • Partner with Service Coordinators and operations to source and stage parts.
  • Explain practices and policies to align with suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Execute basic vibration and air quality troubleshooting.

What you bring

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with centrifugal compressors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months; clean record with no major or frequent violations (DUI within 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions within 3 years).
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms with loud equipment, extreme weather, at heights or confined/precarious spaces, and around high voltage per NFPA or equivalent standards.
  • Physical capability to handle frequent hand/finger use, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting/moving weights per safety policy.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and common digital tools; adept with smartphones/tablets (e.g., iPad) and network-based systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; strong customer service, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • You should be proficient in: 120/208/240/480 Voltage Systems.

Travel & work approach

  • Daily trips to customer sites around the region.
  • Occasional overtime and overnight travel.
