Field Service Engineer

All resources, and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): We are a Regional Service organization within the GE Vernova, Nexus Controls organization with headquarters in Longmont, Colorado. As a Field Service Engineer within your organization, you will:

  • Participate as a Regional Service Team member.
  • Support the execution of retrofit projects. Scope of projects includes one or more of the following: turbine (Mk V, MkVI, MKVIe and HMI products).
  • Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.
  • Perform work at GE and customer locations throughout the United States and Canada, with possible work locations globally.
  • Timely completion of service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.
  • Support the business growth initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Possess a four-year technical degree Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, BSME, MSME), or a two-year degree in Electronics (AAS, BSEE) or Mechanics (AAS, BSME) with equivalent experience. Equivalent military experience may be acceptable as determined by the Service Manager

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Able to travel extensively (greater than 60%) and work significant over-time.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain).

Desired:

  • Previous nuclear field service experience.
  • Controls experience on GE Turbine control systems.
  • Project Management experience running large projects.
  • Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills. "Hands-on approach".
  • Computer skills with familiarity with MS Office products. Experience learning other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes.
  • Experience and basic knowledge of control systems.
  • Solid English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; experience working independently, prioritizing, organizing work, and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience setting and meeting aggressive targets.
