Description

Western Engineering Company Inc. is an asphalt paving company that is employee-owned and we are growing! We have stationary asphalt plants located in Council Bluffs Iowa, Fort Calhoun Nebraska as well as portable plants for mobile operations in Nebraska and Iowa.

We are seeking an experienced Truck Shop Foreman to lead our truck maintenance operations and keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for supervising mechanics, scheduling repairs, managing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring our trucks and equipment are ready to support asphalt paving operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead shop mechanics.
  • Schedule and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and assist with complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine repairs.
  • Ensure trucks, trailers, and support equipment remain DOT compliant.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Coordinate parts inventory and vendor relationships.
  • Prioritize repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Enforce company safety policies and shop procedures.
  • Assist with budgeting and maintenance planning.
  • Work closely with operations personnel to meet production schedules.



Requirements

  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening
  • 5+ years of heavy truck and diesel mechanic experience
  • Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, air brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of construction and trucking equipment
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Must Possess your own tools
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL is preferred)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Keep up-to-date with DOT regulations and trends.
