Title: Troubadour Sponsor

Stipend Role

Location: Deerfield High School

Stipend: Category 6 (from August though end of school year)

Summary:

Troubadour Club is open to all students and generally meets once a week. Troubadour Club members are able to explore their interest in photography, drawings, poetry and short stories with guidance from the sponsor.This role will establish the editorial staff through an application process, including reaching out to both previous and prospective members. Train the new staff - establish the calendar - clarify all jobs/positions. Run weekly meetings to review artwork/literary submissions, create layout.

Finalize the magazine with the editorial staff and printer.

Distribute the magazine to homerooms.

Qualifications:

  • The Troubadour Club sponsor should have teaching certification in the area of visual art and expertise in a variety of disciplines within visual art.
  • Knowledge of DHS art class offerings/creative writing offerings
  • Basic layout software experience
  • Current staff member of DHS

Time Commitment:

  • Meet once a week throughout the school year.
  • Increased meeting times during art and literary selections, layout meetings, and distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create editorial staff - review applications, interview students as needed
  • Train new students - specific jobs and responsibilities, overall calendar, teamwork
  • Publicity for soliciting submissions
  • Conducting review meetings for art and literary submissions, including advance preparation of packets and scans
  • Run preliminary and final layout meetings - choices about pairings, layout options
  • Finalize details with the editorial staff and the printer
  • Coordinate distribution through homerooms

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Student Activities Director and/or Principal in accordance with district policies.
