Traveling Superintendent – Retail Construction

Join a highly respected national general contractor known for delivering complex retail and high-end branded environments for some of the most recognizable names in the industry. Seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead retail and high-end retail construction projects throughout the United States.

This position is ideal for a field leader who understands the speed, detail and coordination required to deliver branded retail spaces. Projects may include tenant improvements, renovations, store remodels, rollouts and select ground-up construction for nationally recognized retail clients.

The Superintendent will have the autonomy to run the project in the field while working closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, vendors, landlords and client representatives to deliver each location safely, on schedule and to the required level of finish.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily field operations from mobilization through turnover
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections and material deliveries
  • Maintain the project schedule and proactively address potential delays
  • Review plans, specifications and site conditions for constructability
  • Oversee layout, installations, architectural finishes and punch-list completion
  • Enforce jobsite safety requirements and maintain a clean, organized site
  • Conduct daily meetings and communicate progress to the project team
  • Coordinate work within malls, shopping centers, occupied buildings and active retail environments
  • Manage phased work, after-hours construction and aggressive opening schedules
  • Maintain daily reports, progress photos, RFIs and other project documentation
  • Ensure work meets company standards, client expectations and brand-specific requirements
  • Lead inspections, closeout and final turnover

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of commercial construction supervision experience
  • Proven experience completing retail or high-end retail projects
  • Experience with tenant improvements, renovations, remodels or national rollout programs
  • Strong understanding of architectural finishes, millwork, fixtures and detailed interior construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong scheduling, subcontractor coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently and making sound field decisions
  • Procore or comparable construction-management software experience preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
  • Willingness to work nights or weekends when required by project schedules or retail operating restrictions
