The Traveling Superintendent leads on-site construction for cold storage and tilt-wall industrial projects across Florida. This position oversees daily field operations, subcontractors, safety, quality, and schedule compliance while coordinating freezer, slab, and panel systems with the project team from mobilization through closeout. Description

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Project Execution

  • Oversee all on‑site construction activities from site mobilization through project closeout
  • Serve as the primary on‑site authority, directing subcontractors, labor forces, and suppliers
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents, plans, and specifications
  • Coordinate daily activities and sequencing with the Project Manager and project team

Cold Storage & Tilt‑Wall Expertise

  • Manage construction of refrigerated buildings, freezer slabs, insulated enclosures, and vapor barrier systems
  • Oversee tilt‑wall panel production, casting, erection, bracing, and patching
  • Ensure proper integration of structural, mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems
  • Monitor specialized requirements related to temperature control, flatness, and building envelope performance

Schedule & Cost Control

  • Develop and maintain detailed short‑term and long‑term look‑ahead schedules
  • Track progress against milestones and proactively address schedule risks
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and approvals to maintain project momentum
  • Assist in identifying cost‑saving opportunities and managing productivity

Safety & Quality Control

  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism
  • Implement quality control procedures and ensure corrective actions are completed

Communication & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress photos, and field reports
  • Participate in coordination meetings, subcontractor meetings, and owner/architect walkthroughs
  • Communicate effectively with owners, inspectors, and design professionals
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and turnover documentation

Profile

Required

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial or industrial construction
  • Demonstrated experience with cold storage, freezer, distribution, or food‑grade facilities
  • Strong background in tilt‑wall concrete construction
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and means and methods
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Florida
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Must be able to travel within the State of Florida
