Tryst Hotels is seeking a Traveling Structural Engineer to support renovation, retrofit, and new construction projects across multiple hotel locations in the U.S. You must be comfortable with varied work hours, travel rotations, and working in environments that are proudly centered around gay hospitality and nightlife.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare structural calculations, reports, and construction documents for renovation and new build projects
Analyze and design structural systems using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
Evaluate existing structures and provide recommendations for upgrades, retrofits, and repairs
Travel to project sites nationwide to perform site inspections, assessments, and field coordination
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project teams to develop efficient and cost-effective solutions
Review shop drawings, submittals, and construction documents for accuracy
Ensure compliance with local, state, and national building codes across multiple jurisdictions
Support permitting processes and adapt designs based on real-time site conditions
Assist in resolving field issues during active construction and renovation phases
Contribute to projects including hotel renovations, multi-story hospitality builds, mixed-use developments, and structural retrofit work
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
E.I.T. required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress
3+ years of structural design experience in commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use projects preferred
Strong understanding of U.S. building codes and structural design standards
Experience designing with concrete, steel, wood, and masonry
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or similar structural design tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to produce clear, coordinated, and accurate construction documents
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment
Highly organized with strong time-management skills
Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset
Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills
Willingness and ability to travel for extended, multi-week assignments across the U.S.
Professional and respectful, with comfort working in LGBTQ+ focused environments
Pay and Benefits
Pay: $40.00 to $55.00 per hour, depending on experience
Full-time W-2 position, Year-round pay structure, including paid travel rotations
