Traveling Roofing Assistant

Location: United States - Travel Required

With boutique hotel projects in high-profile LGBTQ+ destinations, Tryst needs reliable field professionals who can travel, adapt, and support safe, high-quality construction and renovation work across its growing hotel portfolio.

This Traveling Roofing Assistant role supports commercial roofing repairs, renovations, remodels, replacements, and new construction work across Tryst hotel locations in the U.S. You will assist experienced roofing contractors and field teams with hands-on roofing tasks, material handling, jobsite preparation, cleanup, inspections, and punch-list support. The right candidate has roofing experience, is comfortable with frequent travel, and can work professionally in active hospitality environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with commercial roofing repairs, replacements, remodels, renovations, and new construction work as needed
  • Support work on common commercial roofing systems, flashing, drainage, sealants, membranes, and related components
  • Help inspect roofing conditions and identify visible repair or installation needs
  • Assist with leak repairs, damage repairs, waterproofing, weather-related issues, and installation support
  • Prepare, stage, carry, load, unload, and organize roofing materials, tools, and equipment
  • Support roof work connected to hotel renovations, additions, exterior improvements, and active property upgrades
  • Assist with layout, measurements, basic installation tasks, and project preparation
  • Coordinate with roofing contractors, supervisors, general contractors, and other trades as directed
  • Follow plans, scopes of work, layouts, and project specifications under supervisor guidance
  • Maintain safe work practices, including proper use of tools, ladders, lifts, fall protection, and materials
  • Assist with punch-list items, cleanup, final checks, and jobsite organization
  • Help keep projects on track under shifting schedules, deadlines, and site conditions

Qualifications

  • Hands-on roofing experience in commercial, hospitality, multifamily, residential, or similar settings
  • Familiarity with commercial roofing systems, repair methods, materials, flashing, drainage, and sealants
  • Experience supporting repairs, remodeling, renovations, replacements, or new construction work
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the United States for extended project rotations
  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods based on project needs
  • Availability to mobilize quickly when assigned to active projects
  • Comfortable with changing schedules, shifting jobsite conditions, and nontraditional hours
  • Professional demeanor and full comfort working in LGBTQ+ centered spaces
  • Adaptable and respectful when working with diverse teams, vendors, guests, and property environments
  • Ability to follow direction, work independently when needed, and contribute as part of a traveling field team
  • Strong jobsite awareness, reliability, and commitment to safety
  • Relevant roofing, safety, lift, or manufacturer certifications preferred where applicable

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay: $30 to $35/hour, depending on experience.
  • Full-time W-2 position.
  • Year-round pay structure, including paid travel rotations, company-arranged flights and hotels, and paid meals while traveling.
