The Field Services Project Coordinator works under the direction of a Field Services Project Supervisor or Manager to support clients with project execution. This includes allocating and managing resources to plan, design, verify, inspect, or otherwise capture information related to utility and communication infrastructure. This is an entry level leadership role and individuals are expected to have a high degree of leadership potential and technical competence.
● Provide daily on-site field support to a team by addressing and resolving day-to-day issues and problems.
● Ensure that larger, more complex issues are communicated to the Project Manager.
● Serve as a front-line coach for the team by providing on-the-job training, skill development, and ongoing performance feedback.
● Responsible for the team’s time and attendance.
● Responsible for hours reporting and accuracy as needed.
● Partner with the Safety Team to conduct required safety programs and investigations. Submit required documentation.
● Assist with production reports and forecasts on estimated project dates.
● Monitor and enforce housing conditions for direct reports.
● Fulfill weekly production targets as a team, to meet client expectations and budget.
● Positively and effectively communicate with property owners and agencies to arrange for necessary access and work.
● Drive, operate, and maintain a company vehicle in a variety of terrains and surfaces (including ATVs).
● Read and follow maps; navigate through a variety of terrains and in all types of weather, using a GPS, map, compass, or other methods, either by walking or driving.
● Recognize unacceptable safety risk conditions and hazards related to the work environment, federal standards, and client specifications.
● Review and/or correct data integrity errors within the GIS Database.
● Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety requirements in order to complete work safely.
● Complete Quality Assurance: field verify that initial data collection was accurate to project specifications.
● Assist Project Supervisor and/or Project Manager by communicating with clients, preparing necessary documentation, recording and following up on action items.
● Assist with employee evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
● Assist in the hiring, selection, onboarding, and general career development of new team members as needed.
● Execute necessary change management activities with their team.
● Understand and ensure proper use of document management systems, data privacy requirements, and document sharing procedures.
● Perform field audits of existing utility infrastructure by visually identifying, inspecting, and recording information.
● Operate hand-held computers, GPS units, cameras and/or other field technology.
● Accurately record field observations.
● Perform light maintenance on utility infrastructure utilizing hand tools.
● Use a fiberglass measuring stick to accurately measure heights on utility poles.
● Collaborate with others (Project Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Technicians, and Administrators).
● Ensure the proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
● React safely and appropriately in emergency situations.
● Report and respond timely and accurately to supervisor.
● Participate in employee and professional training events as assigned.
● Travel (100%) for on-site job duty training, projects, or meetings.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
● Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
● Required: High-school diploma with a minimum of 1 year of relevant utility infrastructure experience.
● Required: Demonstrated people and team development skills, a growth mindset, and a willingness to further develop in a leadership role.
● Required: Obtain and maintain professional and/or safety certificates and licenses commensurate with project requirements.
● Required: Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, anticipate consequences and implement resources.
● Required: Electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, and communication equipment identification capability.
● Required: Demonstrated proficiency in basic office applications and data entry. Must be willing to learn mapping collection software applications.
● Required: Exemplary communication skills including written and verbal. Ability to write instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to draft intelligible, professional, and accurate correspondence. Effectively and clearly communicate and present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
● Required: Perform basic arithmetic computations.
● Required: Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Identify, address, and resolve problems in varied situations.
● Required: Ability to work in all weather conditions.
● Required: Valid driver’s license along with a clean Motor Vehicle Report. Must attend and pass the Davey Driver’s Safety Course.
● Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
● Preferred: 2 years of prior utility mapping experience, including both Joint Use Audits and Inventory/Verifications.
