Traveling Director of Nursing (DON) – Interim/Contract

Are you a seasoned Director of Nursing who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about elevating clinical excellence? Touchstone Communities is seeking an experienced Traveling DON to support our skilled nursing facilities across Texas in interim leadership assignments.

This role is ideal for a highly adaptable, seasoned nursing leader who is energized by turning around operations, stabilizing teams, and driving quality outcomes in both short-term and long-term engagements. Preferred candidates will be based in the greater San Antonio or Houston regions with the flexibility to travel statewide.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident, results-driven clinical leader who brings:

  • Licensure & Experience:

    • Active RN license in Texas
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility (SNF)
    • Proven success serving in interim, turnaround, or multi-site leadership roles preferred
  • Regulatory Expertise:

    • Deep understanding of state and federal regulations
    • Working knowledge of the CMS 5-Star Quality Rating System
    • Demonstrated ability to improve survey readiness and clinical outcomes
  • Operational Agility:

    • Ability to quickly assess facility needs, implement action plans, and stabilize clinical operations
    • Comfortable stepping into diverse environments and leading through change
  • Leadership & Development:

    • Strong mentor and educator who can quickly build trust with teams
    • Experience coaching and developing nurse leaders and clinical staff
  • Mobility & Flexibility:

    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Texas
    • Open to both short-term and extended assignments based on business needs

What You’ll Do

  • Provide interim DON leadership for underperforming or transitioning facilities
  • Drive regulatory compliance, survey preparedness, and quality improvement
  • Lead, coach, and stabilize clinical teams and leadership structures
  • Partner with regional and CSO teams to execute strategic clinical initiatives
  • Ensure continuity of care and uphold Touchstone’s standards of excellence across all assignments
