Job Summary: Provides health care services by applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis. Performs Sonography procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by a Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure. Job Responsibilities: --40% ENFORCES HOSPITAL POLICIES AND MAINTAINS DEPARTMENT EFFICIENCY AND PROFICIENCY: -Maintains a cohesive working relationship and spirit of cooperation with coworkers, other employees and related individuals. -Sets a positive example for staff through professional knowledge, appearance, personal conduct and interactions. -Maintains a professional working environment and follows all hospital policies and guideline recommendations. -Follow and implement hospital policies and guideline recommendations. -Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule. -Provides supervision and instruction to ultrasound students on site for clinical rotation. -Actively participates in training new employees on equipment functionality, exam protocols and modifications. --15% IMAGE QUALITY ASSURANCE: -Produce quality images for Radiologist s review with correct interpretation. -Prepares copy of images and records image release in electronic health record. -Verifies images archived to and PACS and notifies PACS administrator of any issues. -Send images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed. -Participates in image Peer Review with US Coordinator. -Works with US Coordinator and Radiologist on ACR accreditation as needed. -Assists US Coordinator, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director in equipment and software selections. --15% QUALITY CONTROL IN THE WORK AREA: -Orders and/or restocks supplies and linens. -Report all equipment malfunction to the proper personnel. -Report any environmental safety concerns to proper personnel. -Work with US Coordinator and vendors to schedule maintenance on equipment. -Works with EHR team, US Coordinator, Radiology Manager and/or Radiology Director on changes/needs for the Electronic Health Record (EHR). -Manages physical and financial resources within established guidelines. Includes monitoring supply inventory, assuring equipment properly maintained and proposal for budgeting items related to US. -Stays up to date on regulatory standards and changes. --30% EXECUTES PATIENT CARE DUTIES: -Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history. -Documents all incidents related to patient care on in electronic health record (example-incident reports, medications given, etc.) -Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures. -Follow department protocol for all exams. -Provides initial interpretation for exams per department protocol. -Works with transport and nursing units to coordinate patient exams. -Continuously monitors the patient throughout the exam. -Assist Radiologist and authorized providers with exams/procedures as necessary.
