Job Title: Sonographer Profession: Sonographer Specialty: Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2+ years of experience required License: Active ARDMS Certification required Certifications: Active American Heart Association BLS required Must-Have: Must have Echo and Vascular experience Must be able to perform Echocardiograms with Definity Contrast Must be able to perform Echo and Vascular studies, including TTE Echocardiograms, TEE, stress echo, venous reflux exams, venous dopplers, carotid doppler, arterial doppler, ABI, pericardiocentesis, thrombin injections, and vein mapping exams Able to start own IV MediTech EMR experience Description: The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic exams and procedures in the Ultrasound department. The Sonographer works efficiently according to physician orders. The role involves effective communication with patients and physicians. The Sonographer maintains cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel. Studies must be completed in a timely manner, utilizing downtime to assist others. Exam charges and the 5-day late list should be checked daily. Workload must be organized during high volume to expedite patient care. Communication of pending exams and pertinent information to other technologists is essential. The Sonographer assists the physician in performing radiology procedures. Positive relationships at the department level must be promoted. Concerns should be discussed with the supervisor respectfully. Supplies should be maintained with a minimum inventory. New methods of supply utilization should be developed. Equipment must be handled safely and appropriately within guidelines and policies. The work area must be kept clean, following equipment cleaning policies. Exterior surfaces of the machines should be wiped down after each workday and between patients. The Sonographer must follow the on-call policy, responding within an acceptable timeframe. Willingness to assist with procedures in any area of radiology when needed is expected. Checking with co-workers for assistance during downtime is encouraged. Attendance and tardiness policies must be followed. The dress code and appearance policy should be adhered to. Participation in required in-services and meetings is necessary. Safety and infection control policies must be followed. Other duties may be assigned by supervision.
