Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a night shift hospital position requiring IL RN licensure and EKG rhythm strip interpretation competency.

Details

• Work in the Telemetry unit of a hospital setting
• 13-week assignment on night shift (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Cardiac telemetry patient population including chronic vent patients
• Uses EKG monitoring equipment for rhythm strip interpretation
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system
• Required to pass an EKG strip test during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience required in work history
• ICU-only experience does not meet the telemetry experience requirement
• Competency in rhythm strip interpretation required
• Experience initiating and maintaining cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, and cardizem preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with feeding tube care, tracheostomy care, and continuous bladder irrigation

Additional Information

• Assess acute changes in patients in a fast-paced telemetry environment
• Manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies
• Provide care using isolation precautions and PPE as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• RTO restricted to a maximum of 7 days, with no more than 3 days off and no RTO during the first or last week of the contract
• Block scheduling is not accommodated for this position
• Former UChicago Medicine, PRN, or Ingalls permanent staff must have been separated for at least 7 months before returning as a traveler
