Position Summary
The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to residents and assisting with daily patient care activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CMT ensures accurate medication administration, monitors residents for side effects or changes in condition, and supports quality patient care in a long-term care, rehabilitation, assisted living, or skilled nursing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians following facility policies and procedures.
- Observe residents for medication side effects or adverse reactions and report concerns to nursing staff.
- Accurately document medication administration and patient observations.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Monitor vital signs and report abnormal findings.
- Maintain medication carts, storage rooms, and documentation records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, residents, and family members.
- Support nursing staff with patient care and daily operations.
- Respond promptly to resident needs and emergencies.
