Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technician Profession: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Specialty: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience required License: TX-MRT, ARRT or RCIS Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ACLS (AHA Only) Must-Have: Experience in IR and EP is a plus Description: The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment. This role assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment. The technician prepares the room and equipment and transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities. Essential functions include: Assisting physicians with arteriograms and catheterizations, including permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional procedures, and thrombolytic therapy. Preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures. Printing films and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases. Circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms. Monitoring patients' ECG and vital signs in the catheterization lab and notifying the physician of variances. Providing emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation as needed. The technician performs pre-and post-procedure care and orients patients for special catheterization procedures. They answer questions to ensure patient comfort and transport patients to and from procedural areas. Relevant medical information is communicated to physicians and other staff through required documentation. Data from catheterization, including gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis, is recorded and entered into the data computer. The technician follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. They maintain inventory and order procedure room supplies, ensuring that procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use. Key success factors include: One year of clinical experience preferred. Basic office equipment and computer literacy are required. Ability to multitask and demonstrate problem-solving skills is necessary. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques are essential. Understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology is required.
